Plastic parts

If you read this post a few months ago then you know that I live with a little person who likes Barbie dolls.

I made the mistake of leaving the Target toy catalog out yesterday...only to find 80% of the Barbie images circled in pen by the 5 year old queen of our castle. I guess this means I need to start getting Santa prepared for what's going to be on the little diva's list this year.

Here's the scoop on the hot new dolls out there this year:

Moxie Girlz

Barbie Fashionista

Liv Dolls

So there you have it, the hot new dolls for the holiday season. Now I'll have to see if my little sass pants was hip enough to circle any of these newbies in her perusal of the Tarjay catalog last evening.

Fall blooms

What a gorgeous Saturday we had here in H-town.

The colors in my yard are so bright and vivid so I set out with my camera early on Saturday morning.

Then up to mom's house to visit with older sis who was in town for the weekend.

Pheromones

....a chemical signal that triggers a natural response in another member of the same species.

Do you want to be wanted?

Well apparently this cult-ish single note fragrance will have them chasing after you for one more whiff.

Escentric Molecules Molecule 01

Have any of you heard of or smelled this stuff?

It's pricey, but I'm intrigued!

Ever wonder?

What it would be like to live in Manhattan?
I do,a lot!!
Last time I visited we stayed at the Empire Hotel on the Upper West Side and we strolled the residential streets in the evening and watched all of the young families hustling with their little ones in the cold to get home from work/school and grab dinner at the local deli or cafe and pick up a few necessities at the corner market.
Well I just spotted this fabulous {but of course WAY pricey} pre-war townhouse on the Upper West Side: 2 bedroom, 2 bath {perfect for my little family} for $1.3 mil, AND just a block from central park.

I really love this small kitchen complete with fireplace, farm sink, exposed brick, and white cabinets:
The exposed brick is carried throughout, even in one of the two bathrooms:
And in the child's bedroom {I can totally envision my little one's frilly pink canopy bed in here}:
Look at the detail on the master bedroom ceiling and I've always wanted a fireplace in the master. Imagine it with my white and tan bedding and wall to wall sea grass: How incredible to walk out the doors of this cool town home and be smack dab in the middle of Manhattan.

I might only be able to handle it for a year or so but it would certainly be an adventure!

Bootaholic

Although we only have a few months of cooler {note cooler, not cold} weather in the winter here, I have a slight obsession with boots. Maybe growing up in Colorado has something to do with it. I really don't have that many at home, but I am always drawn to them.

I love these Barbara Bui boots that Kate Hudson wears but the price is about $1000 too steep:

JCrew has a similar version for $398:

Restricted shoes also has a lower heel version for $99:

Come on Houston....bring on the CHILLY air so I can wear my boots already!

"Bubbly and brie"

A nontraditional affair....

A cocktail and appetizer gathering at a swanky champagne bar on Denver's hippest street honoring one of our favorite 'mommies to be'. This close friend of mine is so chic {and she has been waiting SO long for this moment} that she couldn't be bothered with a typical baby-themed event.

No games, no gift opening, just toasts with bubbly {don't worry, she drank sprite all night}, lots of amazing food and a reunion with the best of friends who haven't seen each other in almost a year.

Monday reflections

Oh how I would love to sit here all day, soaking up the perfectly warm {but not too hot} sun while reading a book and getting my feet wet. It's low gear for a few more weeks until the holiday rush is on.
Finish off that candy this week and start rejecting extra calories in the coming weeks to make room for stuffing and pumpkin pie!
Breathe deep, take it slowly, and prepare.

Modern and Moonlit

Not so much on the modern,

but YES on the moonlit.

It's dark and rainy here and this image hits the spot for me.
There must be a roaring fire just to the side
and the big bottle of vino is surely on it's way to the table now.

Here's to a safe and festive weekend,

and to just 'apres-dinner' bedtimes for kiddos next week as darkness falls an hour earlier

{advantage of youngsters who can't tell time yet!}.
