Rain dance

Something tells me that I'm not going to be the only Houstonian replanting flowers in my garden in the coming weeks. We haven't had rain in weeks and there isn't any in the forecast at all. I can't blame our recent heatwave on the death of most of my flowers as they became parched while we were out of town a few weeks ago. When we return from our next trip I'll need to replace some of my potted flowers so I did a quick search for drought resistant flowers and here's what I found. The Houston Chronicle had a great article on drought resistant flowering plants entitled, The Lazy Gardener (sounded right up my alley!).

Here are some of my top picks for what I'll be planting in mid-July:

These are all supposed to do well in partial to full sun and can be planted in late summer in hot climates such as ours.
Have you had any luck with heat and sun tolerant flowers? Please share.
