Recession-proof beauty and skin care

Although I frequently stray, I am a firm believer in all-natural beauty and health products. Often times I experiment with ingredients I already have at home to make facial masks, hair masks, bug bite compresses, eczema potions (for my lil one), and detox tea, just to name a few. My favorite concoction thus far is my daily face mister. I pour distilled water into a small spray bottle and add one drop of eucalyptus essential oil and about 5 drops of lavender essential oil. I keep one of these at my desk at work, in my car, and in my bathroom at home and I absolutely love it, it smells so good and is refreshing in this hot climate {AND I don't miss spending $ on Evian spray anymore}.

My newest potion is for wrinkles. I've read numerous articles claiming that some of the most popular {and most expensive} wrinkle creams on the market are actually damaging to your skin. I did some research and found a link via kitchen crafts and more of a combo of essential oils that is supposed to be good for fighting wrinkles. I went to my nearest Whole Foods store and bought a small dark glass dropper bottle, jojoba oil, carrot seed essential oil, and evening primrose oil caplets.

Here's the exact recipe:
Pour 1oz. Jojoba oil into a small dark glass bottle. Pierce 1 capsule of Primrose oil and squeeze into the bottle. Add 10 drops of carrot seed essential oil. Shake well. Place two drops under each eye and tap to spread. Don't get into eyes. It will keep for 6 months if stored in a dark, cool place.

I've only been using this for a few weeks now but I like it so far!

Another thing I love to use {definitely NOT all natural} is Prep H for my under-eye baggage. I put this under my eyes first thing when I wake up and I do notice that it reduces my puffiness in the time it takes me to drink my coffee and exercise before showering. I have my in-laws bring it to me from Canada when they visit as I've heard the US eliminated a key 'shrinkage' ingredient to our product {probably making the Canadian version much more toxic for your face}. :-)
Here's a pic of the Canadian Prep H package:

Do you have any secret recipes that are tested and true to you?
