Out and about on a Sunday

It's been a busy day today.
Remember my post here when we discovered a cute market on the South side of Houston? Well we hit the grand daddy of all markets in Houston this morning. Rows and rows of fresh fruits and veggies, spices and plants. The daily market behind Canino's on Airline and the 610. It was so much fun.

Next stop, El Bolillo bakery across the street from the market.

Grab a tray and some tongs and go to town.

These bakeries are always such a fun experience. Easy on the eyes AND the wallet, this tray of cookies and donuts only cost $4.50.

Mom is having her yard landscaped and wanted to check out Thompson and Hanson and of course I was happy to oblige. This nursery is located on the same grounds as Tiny Boxwoods, which I just posted about here the other day.

First stop inside, pure heaven to me.

Then outside, these plants and the setting is just gorgeous.

Last stop, our new HEB store for these:

Only $5.99 lb! What a delicious way to end this great day.

  2. T~

Just curious....I've been to lunch at Tiny Boxwoods and only peeked {outside} at the nursery. Now that I see your pictures I want to run {very fast :)} to their nursery. Is the nursery pricey???

  4. CC- Funny you should ask about prices, those boxwoods that I took a picture of, we couldn't find a price on them as was the case with most of the plants. I didn't see a price on any of the plants, perhaps one of those 'if you have to ask how much you can't afford it'. Although I will say there was a little tent outside with sale items and there was a gorgeous, round coffee table marked down to $250 from $1500- it had Italian carvings, just gorgeous but unusually short. There were some casual wood and woven chairs marked down to $50 each, not bad. We didn't buy anything.

  6. Hi, I'm so glad you stopped by my blog so that I could find you! Houston is really a small town...we bought that French antique horse in your photo at Thompson and Hanson. Tall Husband bargained for him...which embarrasses me...and got him for a great price.

    Love your blog!

    Warm regards,
    Annie
