Secret hideaway

What lies in between these arches....

...and behind this door?

It's the little diva's special place in our home. This one tiny room under the stairs, complete with a door, a window, carpeting, a light, and built in bookshelves screamed "pick me" when we first toured our home (our daughter stayed inside this hideout inside the coat closet for 30 minutes during our showing).
I snuck in and snapped a few pics of this space after some 'wild n crazy' play dates a few weeks ago.
Here on the left side is her play kitchen.
Opposite is the built in bookshelf loaded with junk her treasures. Her dress up clothes are kept here in a trunk along with the shoes (on the shelves below).
On the walls surrounding the door are family pictures.

Uh, oh, I've been discovered {is that the cookie monster?}

"You're putting my playroom on your blog?!"
Well I've been asked to vacate the premises so I guess this concludes our little tour.

PS- Next time I sneak in here I think I'll bring a can of white paint with me.

  1. Great space for your daughter.
    I have a place I could do this for my granddaughter down in the family room in our basement.

  3. SO cute!! I LOVE the built-in shelving.

    My friend L has an unfinished basement, but she uses the area under her stairs as a reading area for her kids. It even has a little chandelier. :)

  7. Stacie- I'm so sorry but I don't know what color our walls are. There are gallons of white paint in the garage but I can't even wedge my way in there to see them (that's what happens to garages when you don't have basements).
