Meet Monique

I found her at Houston's Urban Market last weekend...

...no, not her silly....

HER:

Isn't she pretty? It was love at first sight....
I spotted her standing there all alone....

I looked at her price tag and gasped, how could this be? ....but I realized I must contain myself and hold it together so as to not alert other shoppers.
While hubby, little one, mom, and two nieces gathered around me, the crowd started eyeing us....and Monique.

I walked away quickly and the crowd dissipated.

I turned to find hubby but he was still back in the store~booth with Monique...check in hand, trying to get the attention of the owner.
By the time I got to him,
a lovely orange 'SOLD' sticker was placed on Monique.

Apparently when hubby went back later for Monique {to escort her to our car}, another man was there offering the booth owner more than we paid for her....not so fast mister!

She is a welcome addition to the family~room.
She loves to sun bathe in front of the window, where she can be right next to my other pretty girl.

**Until I have my dream house complete with Mora clock, Monique will do**

  11. T~oops I'll try again....
What a divine find. It was refreshing to see that the Antiques dealer didn't take the sneaky offer.
Monique does have a regal stance.

I didn't want to miss the opportunity to come by and wish you a Happy Valentines Day.
Sometimes our lives can become very busy making it difficult to return visits. I appreciate you taking the time to not only visit but, especially for leaving me with your sweet comments.

It truly inspires my creative process. It's always a joy to share.
I hope you can stop by for some V-Day fun. I've posted a tuttoral on Conversation Heart Petit fours.

    Sweet Valentine Wishes,

  14. GM T, thanks for always leaving a comment. I really appreciate and enjoy hearing from you. About the yellow, If you don't like yellow try cobalt, that is the other color I am on the hunt for , I am going to post on that soon. You have such a gorgeous bright happy face you need some color. I love yellow with grey or cobalt. Just one piece of color is all you would need to add. I have to have color, although my base wardrobe is black and white or black and cream but I add pops of color. I am a springy type girl, Have a great weekend. I watched the Olympics last night and was so impressed, did you?

  21. "Monique will do"? Are you kidding me?! ;) I lurrrve her!! I'm kicking myself for not going to Houston for that sale. I usually do, but couldn't make it this time. You have no idea how long I have wanted a Monique. ;) I think one of my very first posts was about clocks. sigh...Just another reason to envy you. ;)
Have a blessed and wonderful weekend!

  22. What style of clock would you call Monique? I LOVE her and have been looking for one like her for a while now! But whenever I do a search at online markets, the wrong style of clocks come up. Any suggestions?

  23. Hi Betsy~ I would say my clock is somewhat similar to a Swedish Mora clock. While true antique collectors/dealers likely notice the differences immediately, this replica is similar enough for me with the chippy paint and rounded, feminine shape.

  25. SO lovely!
Don't you love finding those hidden treasures. My husband and I found a Mora last month sitting all by herself in a consignment store. I think I almost fainted when I saw it. Needless to say, she came home with us that very day.
Need to blog about her soon.
    love your style!!
