While I've grown to like my kitchen, it's small and very outdated so you'll notice I don't post about it much.
After a few small changes over the weekend, I'm loving this wall in my kitchen ~ enough that I just had to share it with you.
Our kitchen is sandwiched in between the back sun room and the front dining room. This is the wall you see walking into the kitchen from the sun room.
I snagged this piece of nicely aging wood from my sister's backyard a few weeks ago.
Remember my post here about an inspiration piece I saw at a store in Calgary? I made this kitchen bistro sign over the weekend to mimic the cool box {image below} I saw in Calgary.

This chic and rustic kitchen sign also inspired me {Brooke Gianetti's home} ;
We have NO storage space in our kitchen {think 1 small pantry, 3 under and 3 upper cabinets with 4 way too high up to reach cabinets.}, so my wrought iron bakers rack is a must for extra 'stuff' that won't fit into cupboards. I initially displayed my Nambe and pewter collection here.
I've been hanging on to this inspiration photo of Kay O'Toole's kitchen (via Cote de Texas) and after shopping my own cupboards, my kitchen rack is now more neutral and white.
After a long run on Sunday, I sat at my little kitchen island and read your blogs while sipping coffee and glancing up at my new favorite kitchen wall. No chipped formica, drippy faucet, outdated appliances, or dented cabinets anywhere with this view.

Tricia,
ReplyDeleteThat bakers rack looks so pretty with those white dishes. I love it! You obviously have a knack for making such a great looking display. And, I hope you don't mind if I copy your idea, and make a cute sign like that for myself! One more thing to add to my "Crafts To Do List"! Thanks for your lovely inspiration.

Thanks for all the nice feedback!
ReplyDeleteVava, I drew the letters by hand with pencil then painted over with black craft paint and a thin brush. The letters were actually thicker and looked better before sanding, but I wanted to sand off some of the black to make it look a bit more faded, but that really just sanded away the edges of my lettering.
It looks so beautiful. I'd love to know how you made that sign! Love how you styled your baker's rack- everything looks so elegant.
