Stylishly small

While I muster up the willpower to force myself to enjoy {or ignore} the now half~empty family room and sun room...
{hubby: lets live with it empty for awhile until we find exactly what we want
me: but we have a garage full of stuff to use
hubby: yes, but it's all junk. It's better empty than full of junk
me: empty is just so...empty, I don't do 'empty' well!}

...I'll spend time soaking up inspiration on creative ways to decorate small spaces.
Check out what this small~house~inhabitant has done with her space.

The dining room is in the basement, with wine lining the walls and painted concrete floors.

Like me, she too has dark walls and dark leather in her living room. That gallery wall on the left is incredible! I love the painted wood floors, rustic wood and splashes of pink.
Small kitchen with gray walls and open shelving. I would die for a big chandy like that in my kitchen instead of my dated fluorescent tube lighting.

Simple yet cozy and chic master bedroom with fabric strategically placed behind bed covering up a window.

This is my dream~converting the guest bedroom into a walk in closet! Pure heaven. Would you believe she spray painted that outdoor rug for this space?! Here is the chic designer and stylist for Euro Trash, Lizzie Carney. Her fabulous 1,000 sq ft. chandy, antique and style~filled bungalow is located in Illinois.

I have managed to start on one furniture re-do project. This one involves plaster so wish me luck! Of course I'll share it with you, whether it turns out or not.

Here's to grandiose dreams for small spaces and getting back into the groove after the post holiday doldrums.

Cheers~
T

  6. I have every picture of hers in my dream decorating folder.......sigh........isn't it FABULOUS...!!!

I know exactly how you feel - *empty is so...empty, I don't do empty well*!! Ok, so Christmas is coming down today and I know I'll feel the same way. Christmas breathes a huge life in our house and I need to find a way to recreate it year-round...minus the evergreen & abundance of "merry merry"!

Happy plastering - I'm so intrigued - what are you doing!? can't wait to see.

  7. I know when I take down all of the Christmas decor, my home will be empty as well as small again! I love what she has done with all of her space and at the same time has managed to keep all the pieces she loves. I am not a fan of bare spaces!

Thanks so much for sharing these pictures and I look forward to seeing your new project!

    XO,
    Jane

  16. Wow, I just found your blog it is beautiful! I too, just downsized from approx 3,000 sq ft down to less than half of that, but it is mortgage free :) However, it is a struggle to adapt to small spaces for me. Your post has given me some ideas though.
    Thanks for sharing!

  17. Hi T, you will have what you want eventually and you will appreciate it even more when it comes to you. I think you have done an amazing job changing your style and going for your dream look this last year. About your flourescent light. I had the same thing in my 1970 kitchen. We took it out and put up molding inside the box for architecture and added a chandelier. Go to my side bar on my kitchen re-do and you can see it. It was so easy to do very cheap and a big look for very little monies.
