I took my new camera out of auto mode (major aversion to flash photography), and practiced a bit around the house. I'm not sure what mode I finally got it in to get a focused picture with no flash. Oy, I need to spend time learning all about this camera before we travel later this summer.
Some unedited photos. The picture is much more crisp and focused than with my other Nikon. I love how the background is blury, emphasizing the focused image. The old Nikon didn't do that either.

We had a low key weekend here. Some swimming and then trying to stay cool indoors. We spent lots of time at B&N picking up some great new reads. I can't wait to dig in.
A classic to read with my little one.

Something to keep me motivated in my training this long, hot summer.

I've heard fabulous things about this one! Has anyone read this?

How was your weekend? Anything exciting going on in your worlds?
xo~

Your pics turned out so clear... I have done the same thing and am loving it! Turning off auto was pretty exhilirating! I am still in learning mode but am loving it! YOu have inspired me to want to be a runner... now to get up the courage. Thanks! t. xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteSimply beautimus! :) I love peonies! I am glad you all stayed cool! I attended a Annie Sloan Chalk Paint class...I will post ideas and tips I picked up soon! We did not swim...:( Our pool is acting up...GREEN!!!! I am off to the pool place to get some advice...
ReplyDeleteRenee and I bought a new camera for several months ago and are still trying to figure it out. We plan on taking a class; however, haven't gotten around to it yet. Great images of the peonies. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful, Tricia!
ReplyDeleteI think you're doing just great with your new camera. It's slow going at times when you're trying to make sense of aperture, ISO and the like, but it's such an amazing feeling once it all clicks into place.
Have a beautiful week, my friend!
Anne
Reading The Paris Wife currently and really enjoying it. My prompt me to read anoth book on your list.
ReplyDeleteOh boy....I really need to take photography lessons....where does the time go! Looks like you are way ahead of me in that department. AND...thanks for the books. Just finished Still Alice about early onset Alzheimer's and it was so hard to read. Great book, just hope it does not happen to me !
ReplyDeleteThe photos are awesome! I have a simple point and shoot camera and I don't edit - I know it shows on my blog but it's just not my thing. Your pics are so crisp and clear!
ReplyDeleteHere's another one that is interesting. part running/part writing:

Beautiful pictures of the white poenies, they look fragile and no doubt have a delicious perfume.
ReplyDeleteYour books look terrific. I am reading, at the suggestion of bloggers Hattatt, "when I am playing with my cat how do I know that she is not playing with me" by Saul Frampton.
It is excellent (about the life of Montaigne and being in touch with life)
I am enjoying your blog and am following you
Helen
How great the flowers look ! I have a nikon as well and after a year I'm still not perfect but getting there.
ReplyDeletelooks like you have some great books to keep you busy! love the pictures of your peonies!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're having fun with you're new camera! The best way to learn is take lots of pictures of the same thing with different settings.
ReplyDeleteThis weekend...finally hung a chandelier. Only eight months later!
xoxo,
Linsey
Love peonies!! Those look gorgeous. Exciting news? Only that we are off to London and Paris TOMORROW!! Busy packing and charging my cameras!! So so excited! Even the thought of 18 hours flying with 3 kids hasn't dampened my joy!
ReplyDeleteOh, you are
ReplyDeletegoing to love,
love your new
camera! My last
few days have been
spent preparing my
daughter {and myself}
for her big trip.
Just got back from
sending her off....
Happy Wednesday!

Wow...the images came out so crystal clear, you can really see every detail in the blossoms, they're beautiful. I felt as if I could reach out and touch them...pretty good for not knowing what you're doing...just think of what you'll create when you master it all!
ReplyDeleteThe Paris Wife sounds interesting...I haven't heard of it but now I'm intrigued.
Happy running...

Your photos are goreous. What model number is your camera? I have a Nikon D3000. I'm not sure it's capable of such great photos (or maybe it's I who's not yet capable of them!).
ReplyDeleteAnne
Sorry - I meant gorgeous, not goreous!
ReplyDeleteHi Anne~ I have a Nikon D7000. I'm still pretty scared of her but hopefully by summer's end we'll be the best of friends. ;)
ReplyDeleteTricia
You photos turned out great! I think taking my camera out of auto was the scariest (but neatest) thing I've ever done! LOL Someone once told me that you need to "shoot, look, delete" over and over til you get it. I laughed but then I found myself doing it.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sasha
I love your photos...land the blurry background looks so great.
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are exquisite, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletelove the white peonies! we have lots of baseball here :) xo susan
ReplyDeleteVery good quality photographs. What camera are you using and which one was the previous one? I had a canon eos 350d for many years and was very happy with it. Then I thought it was time to upgrade it, especially because the lcd seen was ridiculously small. I now have a NIKON d5000 and I love it. It's not the most expensive by far but it goes everywhere with me.
