Our decision not to venture up to the tip top of Tokyo Tower or Sky Tree {any other acrophobic's out there?} left me feeling a bit sad that we wouldn't get to see this vast and amazing city from above. After taking subways and trains to all of the big sections of Tokyo we'd seen everything we wanted to see, but I felt the desire to see it all come together from above. Well thanks to some sweet Japanese friends (more on them in my next and final post), we were invited to their high rise condo, where we could take in the views of Tokyo from the 42nd floor!
The high rise condo as seen from the train station.
We toured the workout facilities, gardens and garage with our friends.
The view from the viewing lounge on the 30th floor:
In the hallway outside of their condo, looking down at the grassy clock 42 stories below {drove hubby crazy that I leaned over to snap this shot, he was holding onto my shirt}.
From the 42nd floor balcony:
A hard to get shot of the tower and the tree together!
Preparing to walk across Rainbow Bridge, to Odaiba Island.
Strolling across the bridge.
We've come so far and we've almost crossed this crazy long bridge but the views are just spectacular from up here!

The view of Tokyo and the bridge looking back from the island.

Sky tree as seen from Asakusa. This is the largest free standing tower in the world and it just opened to the public two weeks before we arrived in Tokyo. Recent accounts say that you totally sway in the tip top observation deck ....um, NO THANKS!
A private, gated residence on a side street near the Tokyo Tower.
The view from our hotel room (19th floor) looking to the right over Hibuya park and the Imperial Gardens:
View from our room looking left, towards the Ginza area:
Our hotel from the street.
The softer side of Tokyo, florists here, there and everywhere.
The cleanest streets I've ever seen!!
One final look at Sky Tree from the train on route to Narita.
Approaching Narita airport from the train.
And finally, bidding farewell to Japan from 10,000 feet or so up.
And saying hello to the good ole U S of A!!
Thanks for hanging in there with me everyone, I warned you that I took a lot of photos!
I hope you had a fantastic 4th of July holiday.
xo~

P.S.~ up next, the best part of Tokyo ~ the peeps!! ☺

It seems so industrial and modern...almost scary in a way..or cold. I'm glad the peeps aren't!
ReplyDeleteIt does look quite modern from the photos taken from above, but once you're down on the streets you get a totally different feel, sometimes getting a glimpse of the much older, less modern Tokyo.
ReplyDeleteWonderful trip!!!! You guys have so many fantastic memories! :D
