Mental prep

Try as I might to ignore the Christmas lights and Texas-sized wreaths going up on the houses in my neighborhood, along with hearing jingle bell rock playing in the shopping plaza nearby AND the Christmas tree photos on my friends' IG pics, the realization hit me like a ton of bricks yesterday.

As I bid farewell to a girlfriend after a coffee date I said, "enjoy your turkey day next week!"...eek, there it was.

Thanksgiving. Next. Week.

There's no denying it. Once we hit next Wednesday the following 5 weeks will be a frenzied blur.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Christmas holidays with a passion. I love spending time with family and friends and sharing traditions with my little one and shopping and baking and wrapping etc....
BUT the whole decorating the house thing doesn't excite me this year. I'm not ready to dig through plastic bins of decor, YET, but I know by next Friday it will hit me. I'll be blasting holiday tunes and eagerly opening those bins and taking in the smell of Christmas {the smell of my holiday decor is amazing, must be all of the candles melted together after sitting in the detached garage all summer, ha!} and pulling out my Christmas angels, candles, ornaments and lights.

In an effort to face the calendar and get mentally prepared this week, I've pulled some holiday decor inspiration images just in case you need a nudge as well.

  3. Fabulous inspiration photos...and very much needed! All of my Christmas energy has gone into cards. Haven't give the house a second thought! And I left most of the decor with the house in Houston. Boo. :( Hey, at least you've got one thing ready to go...your fabulous cards! :) xoxo!

  4. Thanks for the inspiration, T. I'm with you, however, I think I need a push rather than a nudge. ;).

  5. These pictures are gorgeous and give me that spark of excitement to start decorating. We wait a little longer than most since we get a live tree. We just leave it up a little longer. By then I have recovered for the most from the holiday season!

  8. I love the decorations, but not the pulling it all out or putting it all up parts. I have to get myself geared up and then don't stop till it's done (easier said then done).
I feel so relaxed and ready for Christmas once the tree is glowing.

    Enjoy your Thanksgiving,

  10. Thanks for the nudge-I needed it!
I'm looking at my old plastic bins of decorations brought down from the attic and sighing...
I've still not bought the tree... I do have my dried orange slices done, but that's about it.
I think I need to put some Christmas music on.

Merry Christmas to you and your family!
